Hello Students and Parents
I just wanted to give everyone a quick update on what we are working on in the Gym. Students have been working hard on throwing and catching, we are continuing to practice both underarm and overarm throws and we have just started a unit on Handball.
To get students focusing on spreading out and moving into open spaces to receive a pass we have been playing Chicken Keep Away and End Zone Chicken. Next week we will move on to a few different modified Handball games using a ball such as Pin Handball and Shoot Out before we spend a couple classes playing mini games of Handball.
Our Dance unit is fast approaching... Sound Kreations will begin on Monday, October 31st. Royal Oak School will be enjoying an AROUND THE WORLD 2 PROGRAM (Hip-Hop, Latin, Bollywood)
Around The World (2) combines three seemingly different but surprisingly connected dance styles: Hip-Hop, Bollywood and Latin. Modern BBoying/toprock steps pull a lot of influence from Latin footwork. Bollywood films often feature routines that are largely reminiscent of western hip-hop music videos that you might view on MTV, Vevo and YouTube. This program will take students on a world tour, allowing them to appreciate both the similarities and differences between this sampling of the global dance palette.
Students will continue working with the instructor from Sounds Kreations until November 17th when we will hold our afternoon dress rehearsal as well as our evening performances. More information on the performances will be distributed in the near future.
I hope all of the ROS students are enjoying Phys.Ed, I know that I am having a lot of fun working with all of them. Have a great weekend!
